Mayors' Advisory Council for Veterans
MACV's purpose is to build a stronger coalition of service providers in Marion County, through monthly networking meetings, that will better serve and support our Veterans, Military, and their Families by working across organizations lines to coordinate their resources and help solve common Veteran issues.

MACV's Mission:
To Network with, Partner and Support, Marion County Veteran Service Organizations and Service Providers that offer goods, services, programs and benefits to our Veterans, Military, and their Families.
MACV's Goals:
To Better Serve, Inform, and Advise the Mayors' and Town Managers of Marion County on issues that affect Veterans, Military and their Families in our community.
To Better Serve, Inform, and Advise our Marion County Veterans, Military and their Families about goods, services, programs and benefits available to them by helping VSC build a database compiled from all organizations in and around Marion County that are already striving to help our Veterans, Military and their Families.

MACV's Coordinators - Because of all the activities that make up a MACV Meeting and other MACV & VSC activities, we have several coordinators that volunteer their time to help keep track of our activities. Feel free to contact them when you need to coordinate your request with MACV or one of our events.

MACV's Monthly Networking Meetings:
Anyone that wants to learn how they can help support our Veterans just needs to show up at one of our MACV meetings.
- Information Sharing - If anyone wants to share their information on how you and/or your organization can benefit Marion County Veterans, remember to bring from 50 to 60 copies of your brochures, flyers or business cards to distribute or to place on our Information Table located at the entrance to the room. You can also make a brief presentation (under 2 minutes) during the "Roundtable" period.
- 1st Time Guests - 1st Time Guests are always welcome to make brief presentations (under 2 minutes) on how their organization benefits Veterans. If more time is needed they can take it during our "Roundtable" period.
- Guest Speakers - If a Guest or a MACV Member requires more than 2 minutes for their presentation, they must be approved in advance by MACV's Speakers Coordinator, Ron Sukenick. Guest Speakers are asked to keep their presentations between 8 to 10 minutes.

MACV meetings are always on the 3rd Tuesday of each month and runs from 2:00 to 4:00 PM.

MACV's Guidelines for Membership:
Requirements for being a MACV Member or a MACV Associate (No fees or dues are ever required):
- MACV Members (Voting Members - will be issued name and organizational tags):
- Must have attended at least six (6) monthly meetings within the last 12 months and be informed on the subject to be voted on;
- MACV's Directors and Officers are automatically MACV Member;
- VSC's Directors and Officers are automatically MACV Members;
- MACV Steering Committee Members are automatically MACV Members.
- MACV Associates (DO NOT Vote):
- Must attend at least 2 to 3 meetings during any 12-month period to remain a MACV Associate and remain on our active email list.
- Guests or Visiting Speakers - Individuals or Organizations (DO NOT Vote).
MACV Members:
- DO vote on what new projects MACV may or may not want to get involved with.
- DO vote on who serves on the MACV Research Committees.
- DO vote on suggestions and recommendations from the MACV Research Committees before they are sent to the Mayors.
- DO vote on who serves on the MACV Steering Committee.
- DO vote on suggestions and recommendations from the MACV Steering Committee before they are implemented.
- The Steering Committee elects a Chairman which will be a MACV Officer.
- DO vote to recommend MACV Directors once a year.
- DO NOT vote on the day-to-day operations of MACV, that is the duties of the MACV's Officers.
MACV Directors - (initially a total of 7, 4 which are VSC Directors) (In September 2020, after the August Mayor's event, 2 more Directors will be added):
- Serve for one year.
- Review recommendations from MACV Members on potential MACV Directors.
- Select future MACV Directors
- Elect the MACV Officers - The MACV Directors vote on the MACV Officers once a year.
- Appoint the MACV Coordinators - The MACV Directors appoint the MACV Coordinators as needed.

MACV Officers - Responsibilities:
- For the day-to-day operations of MACV.
- Organizing MACV's monthly meeting.
- Selecting MACV Coordinators for:
- Committees
- Speakers
- Newsletter
- Social Media
- Organize with the Committees Coordinator, MACV's 4 Committees:
- Steering Committee
- Homeless & Faith-Based
- Health & Wellness
- Education & Employment
- Work with VSC on the Event Planning Committee for the Mayors' Veterans Appreciation Day event.
Note: There is limited fundraising in MACV because of the potential conflict of interest with politics, different communities, etc. VSC is responsible for funding and promoting MACV's major Projects.
